In Washington, it is not normal for the weather to be in the high 70’s low to mid 80’s this late into spring. Our summers in Washington can be brutal but they usually are not too bad. So it is crazy that spring is this warm when summer doesn’t get this warm until a little bit later.
And I personally love this warm weather, well, when I am outside, definitely not inside.
But I thought I would go and talk to people about what they personally thought about this really warm weather the past couple days. Both of the students I talked to were juniors, and they both had very different responses when it came to me asking them what they thought of the warm weather.
The first student I talked to, Osburn had said that she was “hoping that the weather stays where it is because 85 or 90 and then I just going to be too hot” which is honestly pretty self explanatory; cause as much as everyone loves the heat, it can get to a point where you can’t really do anything without sweating your brains out.
But she also mentioned “she’s also hoping to just sit in the sun enjoy warm weather” and to just simply “sit out in the yard.” Which honestly, both sound like magnificent things to do. Like after you finish your homework or you need a break you could go out for a walk or something.
The next student I talked to came to me with a different approach.
She did say that she sounded excited for all of the warm days and that she was looking forward to them; but she also mentioned “how our climate is changing and also this might be effective early onset effects of the La Nina effect” and so she started talking about climate change and how it’s going to be the hottest summer ever like in India and other really hot climate areas.
And she also started explaining how just as our winter was one of the coldest winters we had, this is probably going to be one of the hottest summers we have as well, and to her personally that doesn’t sound all that exciting.
Really warm summers are nice, but having access to an Air conditioner or a pool or even lake nearby; it makes it kind of hard to be excited about the warm weather that’s coming
