Tahoma High School houses many students with various interests and hobbies.
But the real question is, what do they keep in their backpack to make it through the day?
Soccer player Charlotte Cooper is dedicated to three different teams and states that,
”I need my book because I get bored a lot at school, and this keeps me distracted.”
Not everyone would assume that a soccer player likes to read, but it appears to be one of Charlotte’s top interests.
“…just a theatre kid” Max Hand is performing in the upcoming school musical Water for Elephants, and knows exactly what he needs to get through the day.
“…I cannot go one rehearsal without jazz shoes.”
Anyone involved in theatre or drama would know how essential jazz shoes are for the quality and ease of their highly rehearsed performances.
Sophomore Angelina Glijin enjoys hanging out with friends, and has a very unique daily essential.
”So I’ve got my fish pencil case…”
It might seem like a minute detail, but finding joy in the small things can help people get through the day.
“School’s captain” Mr. Johnson is a phenomenal freshman success and psychology of teams teacher, and has a lot to say about the essentials that he needs in his bag and why.
“You need water to stay hydrated, so you don’t have that chapped lip look, it’s not a good look.
You need to have a journal, so you can write down your thoughts and how you’re going to take over the world, and you need bandaids because life happens.”
Johnson enjoys giving his best advice to make THS a better place, especially without dry lips.
Maya Tengis, is a Sophomore scholar whose schedule mostly contains advanced classes.
One of her big necessities is “…a calculator because I’m in Ap stats and Pre-Calc”.
Obviously, Tengis has to be prepared for both of her rigorous math classes.
At school, it seems everybody is in their own world, participating in different clubs, competing in various sports or even partaking in a heavier hand of advanced classes.
But one short question can take a deep dive into their lives.
