Maple Valley is known for its calm, family-friendly atmosphere — for many students, weekends in Maple Valley feel repetitive, with some believing the town could use more fresh entertainment options, especially for teens.
Student Eliza Dougherty, said there isn’t much to do nearby. According to Eliza, finding something fun to do nearby can be tough. “Currently, it’s not very fun for kids and teens and there’s not much to do if you don’t feel like spending a million dollars,” she explained. She suggested that new venues like bowling alleys or a small movie theater could make Maple Valley more exciting. Still, some people think Maple Valley already has enough charm.
While some residents love more excitement, others enjoy the quiet pace. Others, like Aurora Georgiadis, feel that the town already has options if people look for them. “I guess we could, but we do already have a lot of stuff in Maple Valley that most people wouldn’t give a thought to,” she said. Aurora brought up that she enjoys going to music or makeup stores, she mentioned “Sephora. I love makeup stores, I go often”. She also pointed out that students can hang out at the parks, the library, and local fields, which are good free places to spend time.
As Maple Valley continues to grow, residents will have to decide how to keep its charm while creating a town where everyone has something they enjoy doing. As the town continues to grow, residents will have to decide how to balance keeping Maple Valley peaceful while offering more ways to bring the community together.
