Mother’s Day Weekend

Kayla Robinson, Writer

Last week Sunday, May 14th was Mother’s Day and the day that we celebrate all the mothers in the world. From single mothers, pride mothers, passed mothers, we all celebrate them in one way or another to show how much we care for them. What they do for us and how much they sacrifice for us every day.
Mothers all around the world do so much for us every day. From the very start as they bring people into this world and from making future leaders into the people they are today. But, mothers come in all forms, fathers can count not only as a father figure but also as a nurturing mother as well. What I mean by that is fathers in children’s lives could be a single parent and do twice as much work when it comes to taking care of a child and shaping them into the person they are today, mothers are important but come as much more than just a woman taking care of a child.
Mother figures have come a long way from just the standard understanding of just being in the kitchen and cleaning the dishes as well as doing the laundry in the house. Women have evolved to not just do chores around the house, but have become very influential people in this time such as Queen Elizabeth II, Rosa Parks, and the great Jane Austen. These women have gone through history changing the perspective of what women should be doing in the world, not just being at home doing the chores.
Being a mother is one of the hardest jobs that some people could not consider a job most of the time. The role of a mother can be scary in a way because the thought of giving birth to a human being can be super terrifying. As well as the aftermath of having a baby that has side effects such as postpartum depression, mood changes, problems in the woman’s vagina, and even more scary symptoms of giving birth. Not only is giving birth such a big part of being a mother but taking care of the child such as feeding it, nurturing it, making the child a responsible child, and many more responsibilities that mothers go through when taking care of a child, but not only mothers go through this, the fathers as well.
Mother’s Day is indeed a very important holiday to take part in and to bless our mothers with respect, but this day could be a very challenging holiday to take part in because of the struggle with some people losing their mothers for multiple reasons. This day could be a reminder of the struggle of not being able to have a nurturing mother by their side, but like I said before, a mother could come in forms such as a father that takes place for the mother in a way.
Celebrating mothers Day could be different for everyone. It could be used to spend time with one’s mother, stay away from one’s mother, go to their passing place in remembrance of one’s mother, or even just not realizing that it is mothers Day, but mothers Day is very important in the year and is a way of showing our mothers of the world just how important they are the everyone and the changes and challenges that they face everyday impacts us in the best ways possible. To all the moms of the world, we all thank you and all the things you do for us and your kids truly mean everything to your kids and us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
