Healthy food options are becoming more important, as more people open their eyes and spread the word about processed food being bad for human health, more people are paying attention to what they eat and trying to make healthier decisions.
The issue we are bringing attention to in this article is the issue of Tahoma High School not providing healthy and less processed food options for students who eat school lunches.
Nutrition and Clean foods are very important, not only for the regular student, but also for those who wish to stick to healthy options. This article will shed light on the impact of inadequate food options for Tahoma High School students.
Kage Reppen a Tahoma senior shows his dissatisfaction with school lunches, saying that he has issues with both the taste and concerns regarding health. “I never really eat school lunch because it doesn’t taste good and seems very unhealthy.” His statement shows a common belief among students regarding the unappealing nature of school lunches.
Similarly, Kaustuv Singh’s response highlights the lack of appreciation students have for school lunches stating, “no, I ate it a few times, but I’m not really a fan of it.”
Both interviews show the dissatisfaction among students with high concerns for their health.
As you can see it is common for students at Tahoma High School to think that the school lunch is unhealthy and that if they had to eat it every day, they could see it being a detriment to their health.
Having more students speak up about their concerns regarding the food options at school could bring attention from the school or even the district.
On the Tahoma School District website, there is mention of them working with the Nutrition Services Department, that states, “children who regularly eat breakfast and lunch focus better, maintain good energy levels, are less likely to be absent, and most importantly, learn better,” but it’s not just about making sure that students get food, it’s about making sure the food they get is of good quality.
