Reneé Rapp, known for her music, Broadway, and acting careers, has become a very popular figure over the past few years with her most recent project being the new Mean Girls movie.
With a 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, the 2024 Mean Girls musical adaptation has gained a lot of traction for various reasons.
Many people have said they went for Mean Girls and stayed for Reneé Rapp, while others just loved the original and wanted to see what they would do with the new adaptation given that it was made 20 years later.
Reneé has become very popular with the LGBTQ+ community especially because she is also a part of the community herself.
Many of her songs have mentioned crushes and relationships with other women which has helped her platform develop and thrive with the LGBTQ+ community.
I discovered Reneé through her song Tummy Hurts on Tik Tok and I instantly fell in love with it. I had started listening to her other music and I had later learned that she was going to be in Mean Girls which made me ecstatic.
Reneé has gained a lot of traction since her newest album Snow Angel, but she has been a well known figure for many years since she was in Mean Girls on Broadway back in 2019.
She has also gained more of an audience due to some of the things she says during interviews. While many people, including myself, love her for her out of pocket behavior, there are some people who don’t seem to feel the same.
When discussing the Mean Girls movie with my mother, Stevie Ebe, she had mentioned one of the interviews that Reneé had done saying, “I saw that she said that she was like publicly ageist in an interview or something, like why would she just say that?”
On a recent episode of SNL hosted by Jacob Elordi, Reneé was the musical guest. She sang her title track Snow Angel and the song Not My Fault from the Mean Girls soundtrack with Megan Thee Stallion.
A few of my favorite songs of hers are In The Kitchen from her first album Everything To Everyone, and Snow Angel, and Tummy Hurts from her newest album titled Snow Angel.
If you have the time and want a new pop artist, she is one of the first people I would recommend.
