This past Saturday, January 6th, the Tahoma Bears participated in the Kentridge Invite hosted at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. As posted on their social media site, the team swam for over 20 best times.

Divers also advanced to leagues and districts. Within the best times swam, four of them broke school records. Freshman Nathan Hagen hit the wall with a time of 2:03.05 on his 200 IM, crushing the previous record of 2:04.13. He went on to break the record in the 100 breaststroke as well with an amazing time of 1:02.56, again beating the old record (1:03.84) by over a second. Sophomore Parker Wichelmann also broke two school records. In the 200 freestyle, he sped a very fast 1:48.62, breaking the old record of 1:49.26. Parker went on to break his own record, 5:01.76, set last year in the 500 freestyle. He swam a 4:58.28, making him the first Tahoma bear to break the 5-minute mark in the 500 freestyle. Both of these times automatically qualified Parker for the state meet. As the boys see the end of their season approaching, it will be exciting to see what they are able to accomplish in the postseason.
