As not a lot of you might know, one of the new editions to the 2028 summer Olympics is lacrosse.
A little backstory on the subject, lacrosse is a native american sport created by the Haudenosaunee tribe.
Lacrosse is a competitive sport in which two teams of players use long-handled, racket-like implements (lacrosse sticks) to catch, carry, or throw a ball down the field, or into the opponents’ goal.
Lacrosse is not as popular here in the northwest as it is most popular on the east coast, that is where most of the competitive teams and lacrosse based companies are at.
Lacrosse is also very popular in Canada being the country’s national summer sport and hockey being the national winter sport.
With lacrosse being in the Olympics it has had a lot of growth, being covered on many famous podcasts throughout America.
Being a lacrosse player myself I’m very excited that it’s getting so much coverage.
Both of my sources also appreciate this fact, them being Cameron Olcese and Boden Smith. They are very excited that lacrosse has been added to the Olympics.
In my discussion with them we came to a consensus that either America or Canada will be the Olympics top contenders.
Coming back to the fact of popularity they think this will really elevate lacrosse and draw a lot of people to the sport, as well as increasing people’s knowledge about the sport with most people not even knowing what lacrosse is. It is also driving more attention to the P.L.L. (Premier Lacrosse League).
The P.L.L has had a big change recently via establishing home cities for their eight teams, being the Boston Cannons, California Redwoods, Carolina Chaos, New-York Atlas, Denver Outlaws, Maryland Whipsnakes, Utah Archers, and the infamous Philadelphia Waterdogs.
