Struggles With Depression

Anyone and everyone can deal with stress, anxiety, and depression but what some people understand who don’t deal with any symptoms of depression, knows the struggle to be able to put on a face and act normal during the day. It is a challenge that people face every day with depression and don’t have the strength to talk about it, but that is why I am here, to be a voice for those people.
Depression can affect people in different ways. When people deal with depression, that is not the only thing that is affecting their daily life, disorders such as stress, anxiety, eating disorders, and even social phobia can be a major factor in affecting a person’s personality and daily routine throughout the day. Ken Starr MD Wellness Group states, ¨The trouble concentrating or finding motivation associated with depression can impact productivity and you may fall behind at work or in school, or find yourself socially isolated and withdrawn. Depression left untreated can only get worse, and oftentimes will lead to other complications.¨ As stated, if people do not treat their disorders right away, it can lead to worse things in the near future which not only can hurt the individual but the people around them.
Another thing that people don’t understand when dealing with depression is that it may seem that it’s only you that is dealing with this disorder, but that is the most incorrect statement, in fact it’s the complete opposite. As some might know, depression affects a person’s mood, personality, body, but not only does it affect them but as well as the people around them, family members and friends most likely see you every day. It is very possible that they notice how different you are acting which can also affect them as much as you.
Relationships with your family and others can also be affected over time if the disorder is not treated properly and in a certain amount of time. An article, ¨Be Psychology Center¨ states, ¨Untreated depression can lead to a cycle of self-destructive behaviors that can negatively impact relationships.¨ As put into perspective, depression is not a one-person disorder, it’s a multi-person deal that can hurt everyone around you. The same article also says, ¨When a loved one suffers from depression it can cause their family to experience heightened anxiety and stress.¨ So even if you feel like you don’t think anyone will understand what you’re going through, your family and friends still might understand just a little bit about what you’re going through because of the amount of stress and anxiety that is put on them.
Depression can lead to many horrible and gruesome tragedies when going through it, but just know that if you and or anyone you know that is having to deal with this, just know that you are not dealing with this alone and you have others around you that understand what you’re going through, and it may not be a lot but they just might know a little o what is going on in your life!
