It’s officially fall of 2022 and the school year is finally back to normal no mask no social distants no nothing. Although it has been a couple years and we have gotten used to these rules, our school spirit has been lacking. We need to get back into our school spirit and hype up our athletes. There are many reasons why we should hype our athletes and one of them is just getting back into spirit. Our class of 22 left and they were our ancor for our spirit so the class of 23 needs to step up and fill up that shoe! 

Many athletes say they do a lot better with people who show up and get hyped during the games. The reason why is because the athletes adrenaline keeps them going striving to win. Tahoma students want to be known as the best athletic school in the NPSL league. Asking former Running back Heath Riggs he says, “Having the student show support makes you feel like you have something to play for, a school that supports you.” says Riggs. Coming from that quote we should always be supporting our athletes and not there just to be there. 

School spirit is the best way to live up the moment and bring back the light of our school. A lot of schools have us down as rivals such as all of Kent school, Auburn Riverside, and Kennedy High. Showing up with spirit can have us go crazy for our athletes and the other student section. Many other school student sections want to out beat us and to as well get a step ahead of us. We need to change our cheers so all the students can cheer with the cheerleaders. Spirit sticks should be handed out during games so that our most hyped student can help us out during our games. The band should as well play some beats where cheerleaders can go with it and the student section as well.

Our student section holds such a big impact for our school. If we do not have our student section going crazy our school will be known with the worst school spirit and we do not want to be known as that. Get crazy at games, get hyped, cheer with the cheers and show up in the theme! Class of 2023 needs to step up were upperclassmen and we need to keep setting up examples and leave our school knowing all seniors has a big shoe to fill.
