Why is it good to join Tahoma Band?

The Tahoma High School band is a vital part of Tahoma. They play a big role in a lot of the activities around the school. Specifically sporting events. They also do parades for things such as Maple Valley Days. Or sometimes they even get to go to Disney and play there.

“For events we go/do competitions and play at football games. I believe we will play at  football and basketball games if they make it to state.” Lauryn, a member of the band stated. There’s also a welcoming community in a lot of band rooms in school. Because you are usually working with them for years to come.” Lauryn mentioned.

“The environment inside of band is chaotic but it is also really friendly. I’ve been in the band room myself and I can say that the community there is really welcoming and friendly. But it is also really chaotic with everyone trying to practice and stuff.” Lauryn, who plays the flute-soon to be in the percussion section. Practice, practice, practice, that is the mantra of band.

“What I recommend for THS band is to practice as much as you can and improve so you can get to other places.” Lauryn explained.

There are also different classes for all the types of band such as, Wind Symphony, Symphonic winds, Jazz Band, and a bunch of other ones! These all have different instruments and different class groups in them. There is also a field show in the spring for cadet bands and also a Parade camp. They also have a $75 participation fee for all of these classes. According to the high school siteAll of our Cadet Band members also participate in a summer instrumental workshop as part of our field show or parade camp in August. There is a $75/semester (Fall & Spring) participation fee that may be paid on-line, payment-planned, scholarshipped or waived if needed.”  This doesn’t just include Cadet band though. It also includes  five other band classes.

Lauryn thinks the best part of band is meeting the new people who join the band and just having fun with friends and with band in general “And the best part of band is literally having fun and getting to know the other students you are working with :)” in conclusion, ths band is a really good way to connect with people if you play a instrument or want to play a instrument.
