A variety of changes to previous years makes for an excited but anxious year.

Tahoma students share the truth about Tahoma with their perspective. Including their favored activities of school, and how students use Power Hour.

How has Tahoma High School has impacted the students within it?  Interviews were based along all four grades at the high school to get a wide based variety opinion on the new high school.

Many students said that their favored part of school is Power Hour, saying that they get a lot done during this time.

“I can get my homework done during this time and when I need help on something it is easy going to teachers to get help,” sophomore Callie Gerona said. Other students just eat their lunch or hangout with friends during this time. “I just bro down with my bros and enjoy my food,” said sophomore Aidan Sotelo.

Tahoma’s Underclassmen plan to get involved in activities and clubs “I plan to get involved in Leadership, Wrestling, Lacrosse, and Football,” said freshman Levi Kovacs. “ I played Volleyball, thats it,” said freshman Bailee Johnson.

Students’ least favorite part of school is the eight block periods, the crowdedness amongst the school and the stairs. “The eight block period has made it difficult to finish all my homework and remember what we are doing in all eight classes” said senior Kylee Price.

The crowdedness has made it difficult to get to class quick, “especially going from the third floor down to the first, with only seven minutes,” said Price.

Having stairs is also a big difference because the previous high school did not have them. A couple students commented that we should get escalators within the school, “[it would be] more fun and would make it easier to get up and down the stairs” said senior Allister MacKinnon.

Students answered that Tahoma is a welcoming place where they feel safe. With the new improvements on the new High School compared to the old High School. The “new gates that come down and block off everything make me feel safer” said senior Miles Foucault. “All of the cameras make me feel more safe,” said junior Kamryn Blakey.

The final question asked to specifically the Junior and Seniors, was the thoughts on the school parking lot. All of them agreed on the same points that the parking lot should’ve had two exits making the traffic lighter before and after school when everyone is trying to leave at the same time. “The school parking lot is way too crowded and does not have enough spots. It takes about 30 minutes to get out of the parking lot after school,” said senior Connor Heintz. “It is a mess, and that the school needs to crack down with cars with no parking passes” said MacKinnon describing parking lot issues.
