Prepping for Semester End: Missing Assignments
January 12, 2022
Alright, Bears, we are this close to semester end, this semester ends on the 26th, which means we have 8 blue and 7 gold days (as of Jan 6th). And while the beginning of a new semester means a fresh start for all of us, it also means that we all need to buckle down for the end of this semester. This means catching up in your current classes and setting yourself up for success next semester.
As far as ending the semester well the first thing I would focus on is turning in those late assignments. I myself, have a very hard time keeping up on missing assignments, especially in freshman and sophomore year. Additionally, I find that the later the assignments are the more shameful they become and the less I want to turn them in. That being said, you have to remember anything is better than a zero in the grade book, even if you only attempt the assignment and absolutely screw it up, a 30% in the grade book is better than a 0, so turning in those late assignments will do nothing but help your grade.
For some people though getting those assignments in is a challenge, not because of shame, but because of the sheer amount of missing assignments. Sometimes we have bad days, weeks, or months, and when that happens the missing assignments pile up fast. If you have this problem you need to go in with a plan of how to tackle these assignments. First off you have to go to skyward to figure out what assignments you need to make up, if I were you I’d keep this list page up so you can reference back to it as needed. From there I’d bring up all of your missing assignments on your computer and/or make a pile of all of your physical missing assignments, having all of your assignments together will allow you to feel more organized and put together. From there on I would order or group your assignments. The way you do this is all up to you, it could be done by order of importance or assigned date, or group by class, whatever works best for you.
From there on out, you just got to go at it. Don’t forget to give yourself breaks and take things at a pace that works best for you. Hopefully, this article helps you get those missing assignments in and improves your grades just a little.
