Devin Fewkes (bass) founded Zetta Volt, along with friends, Garrett Burns (guitar) and Matthew Soto (drums) in September of 2017. He initially took up bass when Garrett told him he should learn it so they could play music together.

The band met about one to two times a week throughout their junior year, starting out as a cover band, playing songs from artists they liked, such as Queens of the Stone Age, and Muse.

Jonas Olonovas (guitar) joined in December of that same year. His first day of rehearsal was the beginning of their journey of making original songs. In 2018, Zetta Volt made, but not completed, ten songs. Nearing the end of 2018, Jonas and Matthew left to focus on their own project. Not much later, the remaining members found and recruited a singer that currently attends Auburn Mountainview.

For the band, music doesn’t have to be about something big, Fewkes said that ‘’it’s just a big passion’’ of his, and that it would just be cool to be able to say that he has made an album. If music didn’t work out, he would go to college, most likely for music theory, although he admitted he isn’t too fond of music theory, but that it is good to know. Beyond music, his life goals would include having a family.

Garrett and Devin are now scheduled to graduate in June of 2019, which will start a new chapter for them as they make their way into young adulthood. With the freedom they will soon hold, Fewkes added that this year’s plans for Zetta Volt is to release an album, not bothering with an EP. In the meantime, he will continue to work, and Garrett may attend Digipen. It seems like a likely plan for a young and aspiring band, but Zetta Volt just may become one of the greatest bands to come out of Tahoma.
