The best Thanksgiving dessert

Kylie Miller, Staff

Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends to get together and enjoy one thing;… desserts. Everyone loves desserts but, sometimes the oldies like pumpkin pie, just aren’t as good. There is a solution though, in this article 5 Thanksgiving desserts will be presented and rated. The rating will be based on 3 factors. Difficulty to make, how it looks, and most importantly how it tastes. The rating will be out of ten, one being the worst and ten being the best.

Pumpkin Cheesecake

Pumpkin is a classic Thanksgiving flavor but, the pumpkin cheesecake takes a new twist on the classic dessert. The taste is distinctly pumpkin like, it is sweet but, not overly sweet, 9/10. It looks absolutely divine especially if you add a bit of whipped cream on the top, 9/10 on looks. This was especially difficult to make, 7/10. Overall the pumpkin cheesecake earns itself an 8/10, a very good score.

Banana Bread

Banana bread is a classic but not for Thanksgiving. This recipes banana bread is sweet but not as sweet as candy. The dessert had a nice texture, sadly though for how moist it was some parts particularly the crust was dry and crumbled easy, 8/10 on taste. Looks wise it left something to be desired as it was dark and not as golden and soft looking as advertised, 6/10 for looks. Finally, I found this recipe to be one of the easiest to follow, the instructions were well explained and the ingredients weren’t hard to find 10/10. Overall I’d give this Banana Bread an 8/10, definitely would recommend.

French Apple Tart

This French Apple Tart has a new take on apples, especially for Thanksgiving. The sweet apples seem to melt in your mouth, although the sweetness almost seems to be the tarts undoing as it is completely overpowering. 7/10 on taste. Visually though the tart looks mouthwateringly good, the glaze on top looks almost too good to eat and it smells divine 10/10. This tart was one of the harder things to bake as it had many steps and required some hard to find ingredients and equipment such as a food processor, it was worth it though, 6/10. The tart has earned itself an overall ranking of 7/10, challenging but worth it.

Ricotta Cheesecake with Warm Cranberry’s

Everyone likes cheesecake and this dessert is perfect for Thanksgiving dessert. The pastry is especially moist and soft, the ricotta is especially distinct, 9/10. It looks especially tasty with the cranberry’s on top, and even without them it looks mouthwatering, 10/10 on looks. This was difficult to make, but not awful, the hardest part was watching it in the oven to make sure it didn’t overbake, 7/10. The ricotta cheesecake earns itself an amazing score of 9/10.

Chocolate Mousse

The Chocolate Mousse… In many people opinion the epitome of chocolate. This recipe executes the taste perfectly. Not overpoweringly sweet but also has the distinct sweetness of chocolate. The texture was soft and is a reminder of ice cream but also just soft enough to be a mousse, 10/10. Sadly though this dessert looks the least appealing as it resembles simple chocolate ice cream, it earns itself a 6/10. This recipe was the easiest and quickest to make, it was clear and concise and did not include any uncommon or wacky ingredients or instructions, 10/10. All in all the Mousse earns itself a 9/10.
