The newest Halloween in the franchise has been a smashing success among the public, with yet another confrontation between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers. As many spirited fans rushed the theatre, projectioners began rolling and rooms darkened. Upon watching the opening, many viewers were excited to see original elements from Halloween incorporated into the film. Stark orange letters, the classic theme playing, and the iconic Jack O’ Lantern sitting upright once more.

In a dreary atmosphere, the deranged patients and the dogs baying at the sight of the eerie and dirty William Shatner mask certainly strikes a haunting chord. And of course, wherever the killer goes, gore follows not too far behind. Gruesome kills populate the film, both in action and terrifying after effects. Fair warning to those with sensitive hearts or stomachs, as there is very much blood imagery. There are some scenes that are also humorous and ironic too, earning a chuckle out of the crowd and a break from the scares.

Some flaws in the movie to consider though are characters. Although some famous faces make a reappearance, the movie is full of new characters only to be killed off or their stories are ignored. However, the development of characters is significant, as the once torn apart Strode family reunites to face horrors beyond imagination. The most prominent detail though is the emotional struggle clearly shown with the characters. Expressions ranging from fear, relief, to happiness and sadness are well-executed by the actors. Overall, the movie is very much proven to be at the top this past October, but is still worth the watch after the Halloween season.
