This June 8, just under 2 months away, Tahoma High School juniors and seniors will be dressing their best for this year’s prom! One of the most important things about this dance is feeling confident in what you’re wearing, and usually for girls, it’s their dress. With this year’s theme being a night in Greece, (or Roblox if you feel like it) you should find a dress that will make you feel like you’re dancing away in Mamma Mia! There are so many places to find a dress, online, in a store, thrifted, or for some very talented people, homemade! We went to ask some people about their opinions of their dresses from last year’s prom.
Junior Grayson Lopez got her “dress from a store called Lucia.” Lopez says that she “decided on the dress [she] got because [she] really likes the way that the shade of blue on [her], as well as the sparkles everywhere.”
Buying a new dress isn’t always ideal for everyone, some people get them from second hand stores which also promotes eco friendliness! Samantha Wilson, a senior from Tahoma High School, was also asked about her prom dress shopping experience from last year. “I bought my dress on a secondhand app called Depop, it was last minute and sustainable!”
Buying things online can be risky so we asked Samantha about her experience with the app. “ [The dress] was identical to the pictures on the website, it took three to five days to arrive, she shipped the next day.”
Although the dress was almost perfect she said “I think the price could’ve been lower because there was some beading on the corset missing but it wasn’t too noticeable.”
There are many places to look for dresses so don’t limit yourself to one!
It’s important to remember that when looking for your dress, choose whatever you feel the most confident, comfortable, and happy in. In reality, there will never be a perfect way to find YOUR perfect dress because everyone is different!

About the Contributors
Hi, I'm Samantha and I'm a 16-year-old junior writing for the first time for Tahoma News. My usual hobbies include going on drives, baking, and being silly. I love, love, love, Taylor Swift. I also enjoy going on hikes with my friends and just being out in nature (unless it's pouring rain).
Viviana Melgoza, Writer & Editor
Hi! I’m Vivi and a senior here at Tahoma High School. This will be my first year writing and editing for Tahoma news and I couldn’t be more excited! I speak both Spanish and English and am absolutely in love with the outdoors. I have 2 dogs, a brown Cheewnie and a white Chihuahua, or as others may know them, little “rats.” I love trying out new things, some of my current favorite hobbies are cooking, baking, drawing, working out, playing video games and soccer! Some of my friends refer to me as their therapist because of the great advice I constantly give out. I’m also interested in cars and Mechanics!
