Tahoma Superbowl Traditions
We know how much America loves the Super Bowl; last year Super Bowl LVII had more than 113 million viewers, which was the second most viewed football game. This comes to show how big of a sporting event this is to America, but how relevant is the super bowl in Tahoma? Brayden and I went around asking random people in the school if they planned on viewing the super bowl, if they had any sort of tradition, and what type of foods they would be eating if they did plan to watch the superbowl. After talking to multiple people it showed that many do watch the Super Bowl.
One of the traditions that go on during the super bowl is the parties people throw for it. Hernan and I realized that many students either go to a party or their family hosts one. As we expected many of these parties include finger food, bets, and playing football. Just like many Americans on football sundays it is a time for football fans to get together and finally enjoy the most important game of the year. This year the 49’ers face off the Kansa City Chiefs in a Super Bowl rematch from the 2020 Super Bowl. Out of the people that we asked the 49’ers were heavily favored in Tahoma, with Josh Hare saying “ I want the 49’ers to win because I don’t Taylor Swift”
Typically at a party you see a lot of food but for the super bowl it’s normally finger food. During the interviews the most food that came up was wings, dips, sandwich, pizza, and etc… For example Addie May in our interview said, “wings yeahhhhh also dip.” She also mentioned how she goes to the party and if she isn’t watching the game she’s eating the food. With that we came to the conclusion that the food at superbowl parties is a big contribution.
So after analyzing all of the interviews we got form Tahoma students we can tell that the Super Bowl lives strong within Tahoma. Almost everyone except 2 people said that they hosted or attend a Super Bowl party. So to all of the Tahomies that are looking forward to Super Bowl Sunday, we are too.
