So as we’re all probably aware this season hasn’t been the greatest for quarterbacks.
With the numerous amount of injuries in this particular season of the N.F.L(National Football League), having most of these injuries been for the quarterbacks.
A total of 16 starting quarterbacks were injured this season, a few being Joe Burrow, Mac Jones, Kirk Cousins, Kyler Murray, etc.
With many others this multitude of injuries greatly affecting these teams’ performances, but with these injuries comes the chance for someone else to shine such as 38 year old Joe Flacco.
Joe Flacco, after being signed by the Browns, is acting as starting quarterback after DeShawn Watsons recent injury, and his performance is incredible, averaging almost 300 yards a game significantly improving the Browns’ offense, but this is only one of the many backups who are doing well.
This has some people worried about the formers starter job security when they return.
My source, Boden Smiths believes that, “as long as the starter has a good enough reputation and were doing well before the injury they should be fine.”
He also commented on what we could do to prevent more injuries for quarterbacks backs saying, “if anything it’s just bad luck and O-line coaches might need to work harder with the quarterback to prevent injuries since most injuries are when O-line falls and knocks over the quarterback making bad foot placement.”
I agree that the lack of skill on some offensive lines is really showing this season.
With this amount of injuries the NFL really needs to do something about this and Boden says, “a lot of injuries related to wide receivers are coming from defense going low to make sure they don’t get called for targeting, but many player have said they would rather get hit in the head instead of tearing there ACL, so take away strict targeting off the catch. For quarterbacks there is not much the NFL can do.”
This is why I think this season is the worst for quarterbacks and injuries in general.
