The holiday season is considered to be one of the best time of the year. Many people look forward to the holiday season as they get time off of work, get to see family, eat good food and what most kids look forward to, opening presents. There is a special feeling associated with the holidays especially Christmas. Winter break is the best time of year to kick back and stop worrying about all of the thing going on that stress you out.

We interviewed Tahoma High school student, Emerson Stiner, about the holiday season and this is what he had to say. We asked him if he thought the holiday season was his favorite time of year and he said, “Its definitely a good time of year, especially getting time off of school, but I think I like summer better.” He also stated, “I think Christmas is probably my favorite holiday overall, the only thing I don’t really like about it is the stress of getting people gifts and making sure I get them something that they want.” Overall Emerson thought that, “winter break is just a good break from the stresses of school and its nice not to worry about assignments and waking up early”.

Although Emerson said that he does not enjoy some of the stresses that comes with Christmas, it is still clear that he enjoys the holiday season more than not being on break. Although he claims that summer might be a better time of year, it doesn’t have the same holiday feeling as Christmas. When talking to Mr., a teacher at Tahoma High School, he said he was a big part taker in the holidays he stated, “ This is my favorite time of the year, we all get breaks, we get to see family, even my kids from college.” We had also asked if he takes part in any traditions, he responded with, “Yes, so we start by opening presents with my kids in the morning, then we go to my side and hangout with family, and then later in the evening we make it over to my wife’s side.” He stated he was a big contributor to the Christmas season, he has the house decorated inside with decorations and puts lights on the outside. 

In conclusion it is clear that everyone enjoys the holiday season, especially kids. As for high schoolers, they are probably trying to cherish their last moments being a kid, there is a certain magic you feel when it comes to opening presents and reading about Santa Claus when your young, and as a high schooler it is your last time to remember that feeling before you become an adult.
