As winter break approaches at Tahoma, students will have 2 weeks of extra time during the holidays.
Some students may stay home and play video games, while others enjoy the snow and travel to warmer places.
In our case, we will likely go and practice our safe driving skills, take photos in the snow with our Subarus, and hang out with friends as well as possibly catching up on school work.
We interviewed a couple students at Tahoma to ask about their plans for winter break.
Alex Perez, a senior at Tahoma, commented that he will likely be catching up on missing work saying, “My mom got mad at me cause of my missing assignments.”
He also mentioned that when he finally catches up on his work, he will try spending time with his friends and working out. Saying, “Yeah my goal right now is bulking cause I’m trying to get more muscles since my bench is horrible.”
Working out and creating a healthy lifestyle is a goal that many of Tahoma’s students will probably be trying to achieve in the upcoming year of 2024 and we hope that every Tahoma student achieves this goal as well as any goals they will be striving for.
Another person we interviewed was Jordan Caple, a Class of 2023 graduate.
Some of the things she had to say about the approaching winter break included spending time with her brother Hunter Caple.
One thing she is going to do is horseback riding on trails around North Bend. “There’s this trail called Rattlesnake, but the only problem is that there are a bunch of animals that could spook the horses, and we also have to worry about the people on the trail.”
Depending on the weather, it’s likely that trails will be closed due to the amount of snowfall. But another activity that Jordan will be doing is hiking.
She mentioned, “Well, the hikes starts in California and continues on hikes until you get to Canada, part of it is through Mount Rainier here, and you can ride horses and hike.”
Jordan also stated that the “amount of views on the way are beautiful and amazing for pictures.”
The snow is a significant part of winter break here in Washington state, and many of us enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and playing in the snow.
It’s important that we stay safe and don’t do anything reckless, like driving when there’s no need for it. so to close off the remaining week and a half until winter break, we wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year.
