Has anybody noticed how much the rate of crime has gone up recently? Specifically in Maple Valley there have been many reported crimes such as murders, robberies, hostage situations, etc. Why is this and how can we prevent this from continuing? We spoke to a few civilians of Maple Valley and asked them what their thoughts were on this specific matter.

Garret Marshall stated, “I’ve lived here darn near my whole life and never once did I worry about someone hurting me; now I fear for my life and my children’s life everytime I step foot out my door.” Citizens should not have to fear for their lives when stepping out of their homes. It’s not right, the law enforcement needs to step their game up immediately.

Marshall also informed us of the 2 bodies that were found just outside his house. He said, “I walk that trail with my dogs everyday, it’s a shame what happened.” Although these crimes were committed in Maple Valley, they were still left to be found in our city.

The Sheriff of Maple Valley informed us that some of these murders are being committed in other cities and their bodies are being brought to Maple Valley. If this is the case then why aren’t these people being stopped?

Some people may say that the police are doing everything they can to protect us. If this were true then why is all of this happening. Maple Valley’s crime has increased around 10% in the last year.

Our community needs to work together to fix this. We all want a safe environment to call home.
