On Friday, December 1, Tahoma basketball returns to the floor to take on Auburn High School at home for the first league games of the season. The long-awaited matchup will feature both boys and girls varsity and JV at home, as well as both C teams.
Evenings in which all teams play here under the bright lights of Tahoma are known as quad nights, and they are a very exciting event within the Tahoma community. Many students and families attend to support and have a good time.
Kate Wooten, a returning girls varsity player and senior explains her favorite part of quad nights. “It’s definitely just the atmosphere and the people around us. It’s just good energy and so hype.”
There is a lot of anticipation heading into this season for both the boys and girls programs. Last year, the boys varsity made it all the way to the state tournament, boasting an overall 19-7 record. Girls varsity finished with a 24-4 record, and the first 4A state placement in school history. Both teams graduated several seniors last year, but it is safe to say that the programs are in good hands.
Dalton Brown, a returning senior on the boys side looks to lead Tahoma to another successful run this season.
He explains his favorite part of quad nights is “getting to see all their teams’ hard work pay off.”
The theme for the night is white out, so come in your best all white monochromatic outfits! Come out to the den and support the bears as they go head to head with the Auburn Trojans!
As Wooten says, “if you’re not coming you need to be there, it’s mandatory!”
