In case you happened to miss it, Tahoma Bears football faced off against Curtis High School on Friday, November 3 for the first playoff game of the season. This was a very important game for the bears because it would be the last game of the season if they do not win.
Unfortunately, they could not secure the win and the game ended 45-3 in favor of Curtis. When asked about how we were matched up against Curtis coming into the game, Senior linebacker Nate Ketter stated “I believed the whole time that we had a shot but we just never executed as a team.” adding onto what Nate said senior teammate Cole Goodenow replied to the same question with “ They were the better team that day, Curtis just wanted it more than us.”
Looking back on the weather conditions from Friday night, it may have played a major factor in the loss. It was 33 degrees and pouring rain, Offense could never get it going. However, the defense also clearly could not slow down the Curtis offense, allowing 45 total points.
This was a devastating end to the season but even more devastating to the seniors who may never put on a jersey again. When asked what a few of these seniors favorite memories were from their high school careers, Quarterback Roman Rough said his favorite memory was “Spending quality time around the team and the team bonding during the summer, I feel it made us closer as teammates and is something I will never forget” others like Nate Ketter, Bryant Spangler and Jack Zimmerman all talked about the brotherhood that this team created and how much it meant to them.
This tough loss brings an end to the football season and many players’ football careers. Senior Nate Ketter describes it as “frustrating, it is disappointing, but I am ready for the next chapter of my life.” We want to wish all the graduating Tahoma seniors who gave their all for 4 years a goodbye!
