In the game this last week number 1 ranked Kennedy Catholic defeated the Tahoma Bears with a score of 3 sets to none.
This was the last home game that these senior girls will ever play and it might not have been the way they wanted it to go but it wasn’t anything less of a amazing match.
During the first set of the game Kennedy started down 11-3 making a comeback with 9 unanswered points leaving them with a run away win after that, Set 2 was a complete blowout from the start leaving Tahoma Bears deflated after a 25-11 loss. Third set was nothing less then amazing the Bears were down 20-9 making a comeback leaving it at 24-21 Kennedy, even though they never made the complete come back it was a awesome sight to see with a full crowd and student section cheering loud.
These interviewees had a few words to say about there last game and memories over this season. When asked “Who do you think your toughest opponent will be and why” senior Sophia Powley stated “Definitely Kennedy Catholic, … They are a very sound and competitive team”
Junior Hannah Peshel agreed with Sophia when asked the same question addressing “Kennedy is one of the most competitive teams in the state,… It will be great competition for senior night”. When asked what their favorite part of this senior season has been Maci Manzanarez states “I really enjoyed taking in every single moment with this team and not taking it for granted” which has probably been whats on a lot of senior athletes minds recently.
This might just be the last time some of these girls ever wear a uniform on that court again and even though it is sad, it is a blessing to be able to hold such memories and lessons moving into life.
