As teenage football players score points for the Tahoma football team in Maple valley and tackle different football teams from different areas, they prove their commitment to their sport. Although, there is a question that still needs to be answered: how do teenage football players manage school while playing football?
How do teenage football players manage their assignments, grades, GPA, etc while playing this sport? First off it starts at being at school from 7:30 am – 2:15 pm then having to go to Practice from 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm (practice lasts for around 2 hours) after school everyday is very tiring and stressful! “I would say that football is pretty stressful because we practice so often and that we need to know all of our responsibilities and assignments for each play” (quoted by Alex Mondt). Even though there is a power hour A or B to go to a teacher for help and after school help by different teachers to get help. Coaches such as Coach Myers have the boys do 30 minutes of study time to get work done or catch up so they don’t be behind. Also some players cut their social time and hang time with friends to get work done.”I usually just sacrifice my social time outside of school” ( quoted by Kage Repenn). Football players have different advantages to get assignments up and work done. Football players have the benefits to get more work done when school is over and before practice. Even having coaches pushing you to do better in and out of school is such a great mindset and a great way to focus and push yourself to do better in school and get better at football. Therefore teenage football players take their time and extra time to get their work done so there don’t be consequences involving football such as being benched, not playing for days, closed lunch, etc.
Football players have big responsibilities. They have to have certain grades and make sure all their work is done. Football players have to have their work done in order to be eligible to play football or even practice on the field. Even though it’s stressful for these teenage football players, they still manage or find a way to put school and football first.
