The smell of cinnamon wafts through the air, as leaves change color from dark green to bright orange. Ghosts, skeletons, witches and mystical creatures of all sorts ominously find their way into stores, temperatures drop significantly, and pumpkins begin to appear on every porch. It’s beginning to feel like fall!
Fall is a season that many people enjoy. However, everybody spends it differently. Here are some of the reportedly best fall festivities to do this October.
We all love going to places that can bring us closer to our family and friends.
Some places that our students recommended were Maris Farms in Buckley, WA, Georgetown Morgue Haunted House in Seattle, and the famous Fright Factory also located in Buckley, WA.
Maris Farms is a seasonally-visited agritainment in Buckley that has opportunities for people to attend multiple festivities such as the Pumpkin Patch, the Haunted Forest, the Corn Maze, minigames, spectacles of Farm Play, and more!
It’s open from Friday to Sundays, and closes approximately between 7-10 p.m depending on the day you decide to go on.
Georgetown Morgue Haunted House in Seattle offers a wide array of escape rooms, and a haunted house walk-through.
“You walk through it, and get scared,” Merissa Llamas exclaimed. “They have very nice, scary, but intriguing scenes, and the scare actors are very scary. It gives me the spookiness I expect from October.”
The morgue opens every Thursday through Sunday. Closing times vary from 6-11:30 p.m. depending on the day.
This event ends in early November, make sure to get your tickets soon!
People love to get scared. Famously known for it’s ability to truly terrify, Fright Factory Haunted House is a haunted house located in Buckley, WA. It’s open until Oct. 31 and business hours vary from 6-11:30 p.m. depending on the day you go on.
Speaking of being scared, there’s nothing better than getting a good fright from scary movies.
Tahoma students’ top movies to watch this fall are the Scream series, Bird Box (2018), Friday the 13th, and The Conjuring!
These movies are easily accessible on Paramount Plus, Hulu, Apple TV, and Amazon Video.
As exciting as it may be, please acknowledge that these movies are rated-R and include graphic scenes that may be triggering for some viewers.
On the other hand, some people just want to dial it down, and take it easy.
Some kick-back activities that students recommended were drinking hot cocoa, going trick-or-treating, eating candy, hanging out with friends, and decorating the house for Halloween. Students also recommended roasting pumpkin seeds, and cooking or baking delicious recipes such as pumpkin pie, chicken noodle soup, chicken pot pie, Halloween-themed cookies, and more.
Whether you may be out trick-or-treating on Halloween, drinking hot cocoa under warm blankets, rewatching the classic Scream series, or going to Georgetown Morgue Haunted House with friends and family, there’s something for everybody. This October is definitely filled with many opportunities to get out and do something fun, so go for it!
