Marvel Or DC?

“I couldn’t say no when I received that offer (to reinvent the DC characters)… how can any writer say no to the opportunity or redoing every one of DC’s top superheroes?” -Stan Lee, famous comic book writer.

I couldn’t agree more with Stan. I’m not even a writer and I would rewrite those superheroes. Marvel is just better than DC in every way,

The marvel universe includes some of the most iconic characters we all know and love, for instance, spiderman, hulk, captain America, etc. Sure DC has some good ones like flash, Aquaman, superman, etc. But all these dc characters have complex and confusing backstories like being an alien or just magically being born with these powers, however, the marvel ones connect to science without confusing the watchers.

For instance, Iron Man doesn’t even have powers. He’s a very smart man who created an incredibly strong suit, and Hulk was injected with a weird chemical to turn him the way he is. But flash was struck by lightning in some superpower weather storm? It just doesn’t make sense.

Not to mention the love and connection that each marvel universe character connect to each other with.

Black widow, hulk, iron man, hawkeye, and more are all in their own friend group and still have their own individual movies while there was never a connection between batman and flash in either series.

Adding onto the idea that the characters in marvel are more relatable, they are also better because they are underpowered, and a lot easier to relate to.

It makes a much better movie when you know there’s a real competition going against the characters you’re rooting for, and definitely sparks up more emotion when you realize there’s a possibility of the heroes losing their battles. This helps with the relatable aspect of the characters and the fact that they show certain character traits in the characters like things that a big majority of people can relate to, and they show a good amount of each of the characters’ homelife and struggles.

For instance, Peter Parker, aka Spiderman, is one of the many characters high school students can relate to because the movie includes scenes with tons of side characters that real high schoolers have in their lives. There’s Ned, Peter’s best friend, Flash, Peter’s bully, MJ, Spiderman’s love interest, and more.

A final reason Marvel is better than DC is the light-hearted comparison.

What I mean by this is the fact that Marvel includes many more happy and silly scenes, whether it’s including random puns in the scene or showing a moment of peace two of the characters share.

In DC it’s all darkness and depression throughout the whole movie and if they do include a wholesome scene it’s got loud ominous music in the background and it’s in the worst moments so you know that they may be happy right now, but they won’t be for much longer.

And it’s not just the dialogue and sound that makes marvel more lighthearted, it’s also the scenery and colors of the movies. If you pay attention to a dc movie you’ll see a lot of the scenes are held in a city on a rainy night, but in marvel, most of the scenes are held in the light of the day with a pretty sky and sometimes even pretty landscapes.

In conclusion, marvel checks all the boxes for why it could be better than DC, better characters and so many more emotional aspects of marvel.
