March 3, 2023
Classes matter to students at Tahoma, not only can personalized classes benefit students but class selection can lead students into their path in life, and can help a student explore new or old interests. At Tahoma High School there are a plethora of electives, and core classes that you can choose from that can be personalized to fit the needs or interests of students. At Tahoma High School the way that classes are divided out is that Juniors get first picks on classes before the Sophomores, then the Freshman all in separate weeks so upperclassmen can design themselves a schedule that fits their personal pathway, or graduation requirements. After interviewing some students at Tahoma High School, a lot of differing opinions appear, proving that Tahoma has a class that can interest almost anyone.
One of the students that I interviewed is a former student at Tahoma High School who transferred out in the 2022-2023 school year named Cameron Brand. Cameron was a Junior at Tahoma High School and she reported, “English is my favorite class because I love writing and the teachers at Tahoma make it fun for me.” Brand says that she misses the school and how personalized she could make her goals for her future.
A second student at Tahoma High School is named Spencer Seim, he is a sophomore and when asked what his favorite class is he stated, “My favorite class is metals because it’s a hand-on class, and that type of learning is what is best for me” which further proves that Tahoma has a class for all types of students. Vitaliy Grushke, another sophomore at Tahoma says that his favorite class is Model UN, and he said that, “it helps me with political debates and understanding real world problems. Four other students named Lauren Nass, Penelope Masterson,Dylan Rasaretnam, and Ruslan Petrenko. They said that their favorite classes are photoshop because students can listen to music during class and it’s fun (Nass).
Another is History becasue she thinks that it is important to know our history so we don’t repeat mistakes that we have made in the past (Masterson). Third is Medical Intervention because they get to expirament with new technology and can find classmates with shared interests (Rasaretnam). And finally, American Studies because I like to study different information, watch historical films, and I have a cool teacher, my teacher helps me learn the material better, because he communicates with me a lot and makes sure I know all of the information, and my class enjoys the way that he conducts the lesson (Petrenko). Tahoma has so many classes that there is a class that can be enjoyed by almost everyone.
