Tahoma Winter Band Concert

Tahoma Band never disappoints in any aspect of what they do. From their undeniably successful marching season. At their final field show competition for the Auburn veterans day parade, the parade band took fourth place in the very first season Tahoma has had a parade band playing the “Patriotic Parade Sequence” arr. by Paul Lavander, and one of our most impressive and successful groups at school, The Tahoma High school marching band played their show “Outside the Box” took the audience by storm winning a variety of awards including best music, best general effect, best percussion, best color guard. First place in their band size category AND first place overall compared to all bands competing in the field show competition. But we didn’t expect anything less.
With the fall marching season coming to a close we are now entering the winter season so no more field show or parade band, however, the band isn’t done. Coming up on December 19th is the band’s first concert of the year. All bands are performing in the PAC along with a symphony orchestra which is a mix of the highest string ensemble and the highest wind ensemble so be sure to save the date. They will be performing in this order: As a pre-show, the jazz band will be performing before the concert starts, and then starting at 7 pm the show will be opening with the cadet band, then the concert band. symphonic winds. wind symphony, and finally, symphony orchestra. All bands will be accompanied by the percussion classes under Jordan Hays’ direction. Each band will be playing two songs and all bands under the direction of band director of Matthew Cole.
For those of you who don’t know Mr. Cole, he is an amazing band teacher. Arguably one of the best. He loves what he does and effectively gets his students excited to be in band. He makes efforts to know all of his students on a deeper level than just band. He makes band a truly engaging and fun experience.
I asked Mr. Cole how he’s feeling about this upcoming concert and he responded with smiles and said he’s “excited for getting a chance to get everyone together, getting on stage and being able to share all of our hard work. It’s really exciting for me to be able to play and be all together.” and he’d like to give a special shout out to “all of the students who stepped up while [he] was sick and [he] was so proud that the bands were still able to improve and get ready for the concert in [his] absence.”
The winter concert is always a great environment to be a part of and can really get you in the holiday spirit. To recap: December 19th. 7pm. @Tahoma high school in the PAC. Be there.
