Taylor Swift’s new album Midnights!
October 27, 2022
Taylor Swift released her new album Midnights on Oct 21, 2022.
Swift announced the album at this year’s MTV and VMA’s, where she won an award for ‘Best Video’ on her short film All Too Well. The new album consists of 13 standard tracks plus an additional seven tracks included on her deluxe album titled Midnights (3 AM edition). The 20 songs are called Lavender Haze, Maroon, Anti-hero, Snow On The Beach (feat. Lana Del Rey), You’re on your own kid, Midnight Rain, Question…?, Vigilante Sh**, Bejeweled, Labyrinth, Karma, Sweet Nothing, Mastermind, The Great War, Bigger Than The Whole Sky, Paris, High Infidelity, Glitch, Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve, and Dear Reader.
Midnights broke records not even 24-hours after its initial release, taking the title of the ‘Most-streamed Album in a Single Day’. And just after one day of the album’s initial release, she beat Harry Styles’s album Harry’s House for the title of ‘Best Selling Album of 2022’. This isn’t Swift’s first time breaking charts in an unbelievable amount of time… just three days after the release of the singer’s ninth studio album Evermore, the project sold more than 40,000 wax records beating an all time record.
Swift’s album Midnights is slightly different in comparison to the two studio albums released in 2020, Folklore and Evermore which were indie folk albums. Midnights is a return to the pop genre for Swift. The singer received both praise and backlash for this shift, with fans loving the new album and others ‘expecting more’ from the artist.
Whispers and rumors of an upcoming world tour have emerged and been confirmed by Swift’s official UK merch team. The team stated that all those in the UK who have pre-ordered through the store are “automatically eligible to receive a code for the forthcoming and yet to be announced Taylor Swift UK show dates”. Little has been said regarding the tour since, but the announcement has stirred up quite a bit of excitement… especially since Swift’s 2020 tour Lover Fest was canceled as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Make sure to stream the album if you haven’t already and check out the newly released merch and music videos.
