My Chemical Romance show in Tacoma blows away fans

Of all the artists in the alternative scene, My Chemical Romance is by far one of the most well known, being in the top 500 most listened to artists on Spotify.

Since their breakup in 2013, they have amassed a new generation of fans, many whom have been aching for them to come back. With this being their first tour since the break, anticipation has been very high with the entire tour selling out within 6 hours.

On the Washington date of the tour, My Chemical Romance played at the Tacoma Dome-one of the largest concert venues in the state with a capacity of 23,000 people. Unfortunately due to this the traffic was atrocious and despite leaving an hour and a half early to the 35 minute away venue I ended up getting there an hour and 15 minutes late missing both opening acts. If I had left even 15 minutes later I’m sure I would have even missed a part of My Chemical Romance’s set.

Checking the setlist beforehand, I had noticed that the list was not set in stone, changing every show. This made each concert’s setlist unpredictable, all I knew is that every show started with their new song “The Foundations of Decay”. Immediately after finishing their new song in Tacoma, they followed it with their breakout hit “I’m not okay”. What makes or breaks a show for me and many others is the energy of the fans and this show’s case the energy could probably power Seattle for multiple months with the fans moving like crazy, screaming the words to every song. The setlist varied from the hits to the fan favorites and b-sides. It felt as if there was something for every fan. If you’re a fan by any stretch of the word I would wholeheartedly suggest for you to see them next time they come to Washington.
