Tahoma Needs YOU, Support the Uniform Revolution

Oleh Fylyk, Staff

Dear Fellow Comrade,

I have had a grand vision for the future of Tahoma High School. A vision so revolutionary that it would be hard to express it on paper. It was the first day of school at the new high school and as I glided through the premises I saw the young men dressed in handsome navy pleated pants, complemented by gloriously glowing gold polos enveloped in black blazers adorned with the Bears emblem. In addition, it could be easy to spot glamorous young women in sophisticated gold skirts integrated smoothly with navy tights and striped socks, topped off with elegant navy sweaters and black crossover ties. Such a sight brought me to tears of ecstasy, and I hope to share it with you in order to inspire you to stand up for the cause of school uniforms.

Below is provided some dangerous munitions for your use to help convince your fellow comrades to take up arms for our noble cause.

Recent research has contradicted popular belief that school uniforms increase school bullying. A study done by Attillah Brookshire termed “The Impact of School Uniforms on School Climate” provides clear evidence of this, “Teachers at School B (the non-uniform school) that I studied address bullying behavior in their classrooms at least once a month, and the students also fight more. Teachers at School A (the uniform school), reported they have been able to deter bullying behavior among their students, and their students do not fight.” This first resource can be deadly if used on comrades who have not chosen a side on this issue.

To help further instill in your peers’ fervent support for our mission cite evidence that supports increased school attendance. This will especially be effective in convincing school administrator comrades who thirst for good student attendance. One such piece of evidence for your use can be found in Elisabetta Gentile and Scott A. Imberman’s working paper titled “Dressed For Success? The Effect Of School Uniforms On Student Achievement And Behavior,” the findings show “for middle and high school students, we find significant improvements in attendance rates, particularly for females. School fixed-effects estimates in column (3) indicate that female attendance increases by a statistically significant 0.3 percentage points after uniform adoption.”

Then make sure to appeal to the ethos of parent comrades by using pieces that show school uniforms make a school climate safer. A study you can use to do so is by Mary Stafford and Kathleen Wade entitled “Effect on Perceptions of Gang Presence, School Climate, and Student Self-Perceptions” where the evidence utters “teachers from schools with uniform policies perceived lower levels of gang presence.” Make sure to also share this with teacher comrades because they too yearn for safer environments.

If by chance someone dares challenge you with the weak freedom of speech argument make sure to report them to headquarters right away…

I wish you luck comrade, and in case you get caught or killed the secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions.

Best regards,

Commander Comrade Fylykski
