Tahoma Basketball Made it to State!

The Tahoma Bears Boys Basketball Team made it to State, which sounds quite usual in comparison to many of our other sports team. However, this is a moment that will be remembered for many generations. Tahoma High School has existed since 1927 and this is the first time Boys Basketball has ever won a game at state. The dynamic of this team is extremely special. Most of the boys have played together since 3rd grade and have been best friends ever since. They practice every day, work out most days, and shoot around constantly together. This team has a very special rapport that most of the previous teams haven’t felt.

Their performance went very well in Districts/Regionals (what qualified them into state). They beat Olympia High School 56-49 with a comfortable lead the entire second half. Following that game, they beat Federal Way High School 48-43 in a stressful finish. Tahoma was up 44-43 with 14.6 seconds left in the game. The boys lost to Curtis 56-77 in the district finals but followed that up by beating Kamiakin 54-51 to place them high going into state.

In the Dome, they lost their first game 53-60 to Olympia with a close finish. They bounced back from that loss and dominated Graham Kapowsin 64-44. They ended their season with a tough loss to Kamiakin but overall had a great finish. The team ended up placing 6th in all of the states in the 4A division.

I made a video covering the season (specifically the seniors), attached right here:
