Callan Underwood, Journalist and Editor

2,900 athletes from 90 different countries are taking part in the Winter Olympics.

One big change for this year’s Winter Olympics is that no international fans are allowed at the Games. Luckily, there will still be plenty of TV coverage to keep up with what is taking place.

Assuming you’re rooting for the U.S.A, let’s do a quick recap. In the last Winter Olympics which took place in 2018,

What sports are part of the Winter Olympics?

Alpine skiing, Biathlon, Bobsleigh, Cross-country skiing, Curling, Figure skating, Freestyle skiing, Ice hockey, Luge, Nordic combined, Short track speed skating, Skeleton, Ski jumping, Snowboard, Speed skating.

For those of you wondering what Luge and Skeleton are, I don’t blame you.

After asking around the class, not a single person knew what these events were.

Skeleton is sliding on ice headfirst on a tiny board. It looks something like this:

Luge is similar but the opposite. Luge is sliding on ice feet first, looking something like this:
