Red Notice Rock Solid?
(spoiler warning)
Netflix’s Red Notice premiered this November 5, 2021 and is now the number one watched movie in Netflix history. With such a big accomplishment comes a rather diverse ratings from both fans and critics. Red Notice’s success in viewership can easily be accredited to its big name trio of actors, featuring Dwayne Johnson as special agent John Hartley of the FBI, Ryan Reynolds as Nolan Booth the world’s greatest con-man, and Gal Gadot as “the bishop” the world’s greatest art thief. The plot is relatively bland, special agent John Hartley arrests Nolan Booth for stealing one of Cleopatra’s 3 golden eggs. when he is framed for stealing it as well he’s sent to a Russian prison where he finds himself to be roommates with Nolan Booth. Hartley and Booth make a pact to help prove Hartley’s innocence and to help Booth become the world’s greatest art thief again which was based on their mutual assumption that The Bishop set both of them up. The movie progresses with quite a lot of predictability. For example, Booth lying to the bishop about the location of the third egg, the second egg in the museum being a fake and the FBI and the bishop following John and Nolan to the Nazi bunker.
Red Notice may stumble with its story but its humor is where it truly stands out. Ryan Reynolds does play Ryan Reynolds but being honest with ourselves, can we really ever get tired of him? The same goes for both Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot. But regardless, the movie is absolutely hilarious and the chemistry cannot be denied. HOWEVER! The same can’t be said for Dwayne and Gal. Spoiler time! Don’t read father if you don’t want to know.
Fine, it won’t be leaked. But, I genuinely did not expect that twist.
Overall it’s a solid movie. Red Notice is hilarious with three big name actors as the lead roles and it fills the need for entertainment.
