NBA Playoffs
As the NBA finals come to a close, there is close speculation on who will win.
June 3, 2019
It’s almost time for the NBA finals, there are 2 teams left in the Western and 2 in the Eastern Conference. It’s going to be journey for the teams to reach to the top and get the 2019 champion rings. It’s down to The Portland Trail Blazers, The Golden State Warriors, The Milwaukee Bucks and The Toronto Raptors.
The Golden State Warriors recently lost one of their valuable players Kevin Durant due to an injury to his right calf. He was forced to leave in the third quarter of game 5 in the Western Conference semifinals. The Warriors were forced to play without Durant and the Rockets choked against the Warriors and lost the series. It was still an intense series to watch but now it’s down to the Portland Blazers and the Warriors in the Western Conference finals.
A lot of students didn’t think the Toronto Raptors were going to make it in the Eastern Conference finals against the Philadelphia 76ers, a team that managed to tie up the series 3-3 at a Raptors home game. It came down to the last four seconds of the game, they gave the ball to Kawhi Leonard who made a difficult shot while Joel Embiid defends him. The buzzer sounds as the ball bounces on the rim 4 times, it finally goes in and the game ends at 92-90 Raptors. Toronto won the series.
Senior Jeremiah Stallings said, “The Celtics and the Bucks will be a good game but I think the Bucks will come out on top because The Greek Freak (Giannis Antetokounmpo) is a monster.” After the Bucks first lost in the series Paul Pierce, retired NBA player, predicted that Boston was going to sweep the Bucks. But the Bucks managed to beat the Celtics 4-1 in the series. The Bucks are now on to the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference finals.
In my opinion, I think Toronto will win the championship against the Warriors because they lost Kevin Durant. The Golden State Warriors have the splash brothers, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, they are considered the deadliest shooters on the court. But Toronto is hungry for that trophy.
