Bryan Singer, the director, and producer of Bohemian Rhapsody, is known for his talented work in many of the X-men movies, and for the dramatic stories that he is able to display on the screen. The cast of Bohemian Rhapsody did an amazing job portraying the journey of the band’s success, and how it all started. Throughout the movie, many stories about the group were shown such as when they first all met and became a band, when they took a long break from each other, and the amazing story about the lead singer, Freddie Mercury. The film displayed how the band came up with many number one hits, and the crowd that they would perform for. In one of the scenes, the movie displayed what one of their concerts looked like; with showed the thousands of people who would come to their concerts and sing their songs along with them. Each scene throughout the movie was a perfect flashback of all that this amazing band did. It was a remarkable recreation of Queen’s success and really represented all of the good and bad times the band went through.

When looking at the reviews for Bohemian Rhapsody, you may come across a bad rating of 60% on Rotten Tomatoes and some negative reviews. For example, Owen Gleiberman, a critic from the website variety, said that “Much of the movie focuses on Freddie’s experiences specifically, enough so that, in the end, Bohemian Rhapsody winds up revealing very little about the rest of Queen”. When watching this movie, you may notice that Freddie Mercury’s events throughout him being famous were some of the main focus points, however, this is because Mercury went through many more troubling times than the rest of the band, with being gay, having drug problems, and especially having AIDS. The director and rest of the cast needed to showcase the hardships of Mercury so that people understood what went on with him behind the scenes. The other band members Brian May (Keyboard), Roger Taylor (drums), and John Deacon (Guitars), all had families and didn’t have as many struggles as their lead singer Freddie Mercury.

With all this said, Bohemian Rhapsody is a great movie for you to go see with your friends and family. Even if you don’t know much about the band Queen, this movie will teach you about their history and amazing music that the band produced over the years.
