- Lake Wilderness (5 min)
This 117-acre park will amaze you with its beauty and endless possibilities for fun. You can spend the day at the lake fishing, boating, or swimming. Or, you could opt to head into the forest and explore miles of gorgeous trails. And don’t forget to check out the historic arboretum, which offers a stunning variety of plants and flowers. Be sure to return for more fun at Maple Valley from June 13-15!
- New Gnome Trail (5 min)
Just under a mile, this whimsical forest loop is brimming with gnomes and other fairy-tale creatures. Immerse yourself in the lush forest while hunting for hidden treasures. If you visit the trail on a Saturday, be sure to stop off at the Maple Valley Farmer’s market. Enjoy a bite to eat or peruse the many local vendors the market has to offer.
- Cougar Mountain Zoo (30 min)
If you feel like venturing out beyond the Maple Valley limits, check out the Cougar Mountain Zoo. Located on the slope of Cougar Mountain and boasting scenic views, this small zoo offers a more intimate wildlife experience. You can interact with the playful lemurs, stand feet away from majestic wolves, or hand-feed friendly alpacas to name just a few.
- Marine View Park (35 min)
Located in Normandy Park, this hidden gem is the perfect place to enjoy a day on Puget Sound. Take a short trek through a lush forest and down to a quiet rocky beach lined with sun-bleached driftwood. You will have a sweeping view of Mount Rainier as well as neighboring Vashon and Maury Islands. A Maple Valley resident suggests, “Pack a picnic lunch and settle in for a relaxing day at the beach!”
