As Prom season approaches, students are rushing to make their plans for the big day. Reservations are being made, dresses and suits are being bought. Juniors and seniors getting ready for the famous day. But should juniors really be included? Today we are exploring the possibility of prom being a senior only prom.
We asked many students around the school their thoughts on the idea and most were content on the idea of including the junior class on the event. We interviewed not only seniors but juniors as well. Junior Chloe Jacoy and Senior Lucy Rollerson agreed that we should keep the dance as a junior AND senior event. They explained that this gives people more of an opportunity to attend it in case they cannot make it their senior year. Rollerson stated, “You miss one so you only have one.” In many cases, people who wish to attend have conflicting matters. If they have two years to get the chance to go it allows more involvement by our student body.
They also brought up the idea of profit for our school. Chloe Jacoy, a member of ASB, explained how it also brings in more money for a wider audience. This allows us to put on more events and do more things for the student body. Selling tickets to more students could benefit us in the long run. In addition, it also helps the budget for our future proms. In an effort to make the dance better and better each year, we can use the funds to grow.
In conclusion, the people we talked to had all agreed that having juniors and seniors attending would not be an issue. The idea had been encouraged. While the day nears, Tahoma is excited to welcome juniors and seniors this year to prom! We hope the night is great for you and don’t forget to stay safe.
