Its time, after 5 years of waiting, 1,540 days to be exact Jordan Carter aka. Playboi Carti has finally dropped his new album, after all the memes and hardcore Carti conspiracy theorists that lust over the release of this album it’s finally here, before I begin a quick moment of silence for those who didn’t make it to see this album finally release.
Now we begin its been highly anticipated for years that this album was upon our horizons however we didn’t think we would wait this long, ever since 2021 we’ve been getting leaks here and there nonstop from many upon several mirror pictures and random captions that can’t be said here, however a notable date that was finally given was on September 12, 2024 when Carti posted to his Instagram of “I AM MUSIC” themed merchandise including a vinyl and CD which is strange since it hasn’t been released yet however there was a release date for said merchandise to release which was April 18th, 2025. Then a day later his single “ALL RED” released on his birthday, September 13th, 2024. Then as things calmed down in december “whole lotta red” turned 5 years old on December 25th, 2020 2 days after fans started to accept they might have to wait until next year to get the album while many were convinced (myself included) that the album may never come as “#IAMLIAR” started to trend on X (Formally known as Twitter) and many people somehow made the most insane AI mockups and memes on Carti known to man.
However this all changed on March 14th, 2025 when Carti finally dropped his highly anticipated album that was simply titled “Music” then 2 weeks later he dropped an extended version titled “MUSIC – SORRY 4 DA WAIT” with 4 extra tracks with many features like Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar making it even more special, Music topped the Billboard Top 100 chart for hip-hop rap at #1 within its first week of being out as many fans were hyped for this long awaited album as many don’t like it but some do but I kind of have a mix of feelings for both sides on this album.
Upon listening to this album with the first track being “POP OUT” this song instantly takes me back to when i was 14 years old when i first listened to “Whole Lotta Red” it reminds me of his old style of music before he deepened his voice in his newer tracks so it’s nice to see his old style back. The aggression in his music still remains the same however i feel like it’s gotten more aggressive with the release of this album, over the 30 track 77 minute length album it shifts between its aggressive style Carti originally was infamous for to something slightly calmer that has been seen in some of his newer music. I interviewed a fellow Tahoma student Lucas Rhymes and he gives the album a 9/10 and says the album was good, i agree however i feel like it wasn’t 100% there, i also interviewed another student Jack Friesen and he says that the album only had 3 good songs and that was it, so i got a mixture of reviews and opinions on the album and its a 50/50 mix between people who liked it versus those who didn’t like the album, i think it was somewhat worth the wait but it shouldn’t have taken over 5 years for it to finally release and in my honest opinion whole lotta red will always be my favorite carti album, but “Music” comes close.

I’ve never been a Playboi Carti fan, but this article has motivated me to go listen to his new album.
