Do you enjoy traveling? Can you afford to travel? If you’re looking for new places to go for an affordable price, I’ll go over the best options for you ! Most people don’t get to go on vacation because of the extremely expensive prices, and it’s depressing that people can’t see the world and go explore. A fellow student, Devin Morency, states “being able to afford the inexpensive meals while traveling is probably the best perk of choosing a cheaper place to visit.”
One of the many affordable places includes Asia. It’s the largest continent in the world, and it takes up about 30% of the Earth’s land area. Asia has amazing places to visit, such as the Great Wall of China, built across the historical northern borders of ancient Chinese states. Asia is full of landmarks that you can tour, including the Petronas Twin Towers, The Grand Palace, Forbidden City, and Mount Fuji. The most affordable city in Southeast Asia is Laos. It has many activities that are extremely affordable. You could visit this waterfall for only $2.50. Other activities include a $7 full-day tubing experience along the Vang Vieng River. Public transportation in Asia is extremely cheap, only $2-$10 for buses or motorbikes. Many of the hotels only cost around $35 per night, and the meals are only around $3-$9 per DAY. As long as you make a plan to spend around 100-200 on a month of traveling, and make sure to budget well by staying in dorms, taking public transportation, and eating street food, you will have an amazing experience in Asia.
Another affordable place to visit in Southeast Asia is Cambodia, although getting around on a low budget can be risky as the dorms could turn out to be “dirty cheap” instead of clean and nice, but there are still many beneficially inexpensive tours you can go on. For only $60 you can get a three-day pass to Angkor Wat, a Hindu-Buddhist temple in the capital city of Angkor. One of the best meals to have is some cheap and delicious meat skewers. Cambodia offers some fairly newly built boutique hotels that are absolutely gorgeous, and the price is extremely affordable for what you get.
Lastly, Vietnam is an affordable place to visit since it has a very low cost of living, which translates to affordable things for tourists. Accommodation ranges from affordable hostels to mid-range hotels, and the prices of food are extremely affordable, with decent street food and local restaurants offering meals for a few dollars. Traveling across the nation is also affordable, with modes of transportation like buses, trains, and motorbike rentals that are inexpensive. Most of Vietnam’s attractions, such as its beautiful beaches, ancient sites, and vibrant markets, are free or have minimal entrance fees, so traveling around isn’t a hassle. Overall, Vietnam offers an abundance of cultural experience and stunning scenery at a fraction of the price of many other tourist locations.
A few of the other affordable places include countries like Thailand, Mexico, and Portugal. Thailand is renowned for its beautiful beaches, bustling street markets, and delicious food at very affordable prices. Mexico offers an excellent cultural experience with ancient ruins, beautiful coastlines, and delicious food without costing a lot. Portugal prides itself on breathtaking scenery, charming cities, and low-cost dining, making it a very good budget option in Europe.
Travel is fun and therapeutic as it allows you to go to new places, meet new people, and discover new cultures. It’s a way to get away from your daily routine and can be a great way of unwinding and refreshing. Knowing you’re not spending all your money to spending time on yourself and exploring the world is an amazing experience everyone deserves.
