Many of us know the movie The Little mermaid, but have you gone to see the play here at Tahoma High School? This play is full of colorful outfits, lots of singing, including solos, and so much dancing! A show that you won’t want to miss out on. Sydney Felberg plays the main character, Ariel and absolutely does an amazing job at singing and acting. Carter Green plays prince Eric, and also portrays the role perfectly.
Many memories were made on that stage, and friendships that will last a lifetime. Olive Douragh said this, “I have made so many memories! My favorite memories were just hanging out with all the cast backstage!” She also goes on to say “ My favorite part of being a part of this play was meeting all the people I wouldn’t normally meet if I didn’t participate in the play.” Olive was a part of the ensemble group! She played a starfish, and other characters. She hopes to get a bigger role in the next play coming up. Olive is such a great example that you can meet so many amazing people if you just put yourself out there.
The little mermaid play was a huge deal to many. Sage, who was a part of the ensemble group, said this, “One of my favorite parts about being a part of The Little Mermaid play was the community. I have met some of the most kind and genuine people that are now my best friends.” I love the connections that The Little Mermaid play has given to many people! With the large cast and differing grades there are so many people to get to know and build a community with. She then says “I love that I have the opportunity to be a part of such a magical and meaningful experience for anyone that comes and sees it! I would highly recommend being a part of theater and that could also mean not being an actor. There are many other jobs such as mic people, tech crew, hair and makeup people and all of us have a meaning no matter what we do in the show!” When we go to watch this play sometimes we forget the people behind the scenes but it’s a great reminder that everyone played a huge role in making The Little Mermaid play come to life! Lastly Sage says this “One of my favorite memories is before every show when everyone is getting ready, we play music on a speaker in the dressing room everyone is singing along and dancing as a group! These people are my light and joy and I feel so extremely blessed to be a part of this program!
Whether you are thinking about going to see The Little Mermaid play, or maybe in the future wanting to be a part of a play there are so many good reasons for both! The sense of community, belonging and fun makes these students have the best experience ever! So maybe consider letting THS theater be “A part of your world!”
