As many know, Christmas is not the only holiday celebrated in the month of December. I had a few people take a Google form filling out a few questions, it got up to 47 responses, and I think I got the data that I need to say that Christmas is possibly the most celebrated holiday around December. The options were all over the board for what holiday everyone celebrated,
Hanukkah with 2%, Yule with also a 2% and that’s the same with Shabe Yalda and Chinese New Year. Diwali with 8% and Omisoka with 4%. Leaving Christmas with 90% and new years with New Years with 72%.
Is there anything that you truly like or love about this holiday or those holidays that you celebrate? Lua Rahbin celebrates New Years and Shabe Yalda. “I really like celebrating shabe yalda because it is fun staying up late and playing games with my family and I enjoy new years because of my family’s traditions.” Lua stated, and going along with this she also stated “I don’t think I would swap with anyone.” she said this because on the form the question asked if you would swap holidays with anyone who would it be and why?
Piyush Chandra Kancharapu celebrates 3 Holidays; Chinese New Year, Diwali, and New Years. If you could swap holidays with anyone, who would it be, and why would you swap with them? “I would swap holidays with no one as my holidays have the best food.” She stated this is also what a ton of other people said when they answered the question all but a few. Answered in a shorter, but empathetic way like Kara Madsen said, “I would swap with my friends who celebrate Diwali because every time I celebrate it with them, it’s always fun.” showing that every Holiday no matter how you think of it, could become fun if you gave it a try. Mackenzie Clinton also had a very deep answer to this question as well. “I would swap it with Chinese new year because of how beautiful it looks, as well as seeing the parades and Chinese dragons all fascinated me ”said Mackenzie.
What do you think about others that have a different holiday than yourself? Why do you think that? Dallas Roberts answered this question with a very deep and thoughtful answer, “I am glad that there are so many people that celebrate different holidays. It gives people more diversity, more things to be happy about and await throughout the year. Everyone has something special that they do for their holiday, some sort of different tradition, but the holidays are always a fun time, no matter which one you celebrate, and that’s the best part.” Dallas said.
What’s your favorite part about this holiday that you celebrate? Ameryia answered with a very deep and thoughtful wording, “My favorite part about Christmas is that I get to be closer to my family and spend time with them and the whole day I get to be around them and spend time playing games, unwrapping gifts, giving gifts and then bringing gifts to my friends, and it’s really fun to me.” she said.
But after all the responses that i got i’m very surprised that there were so many people that celebrated christmas and not more of any of the other responses, not that i really mind. It’s okay to celebrate different things and to celebrate more than one thing.
