The girls Tahoma Swim and Dive team went to the state championship a few weekends ago after a series of impressive performances at districts where they placed 3rd. Individuals, relays and diving secured their spot to compete against the best in Washington. The team showed so much dedication and teamwork throughout the season with incredible moments such as school records being broken, PR’s all over the place and high scoring dives. The state championship was held at King County Aquatic Center with prelims on Friday and finals on Saturday.
We wanted to dive deeper into what being a state competitor really looks like. We started off by interviewing the swim coach Mrs. Cassanada to see her view on how she felt about these awesome girls making it to state! “The girls have been working extremely hard at practice and perfecting their relay exchanges and LOCKING IN” The girls have been going to practice 5 days a week for the last 4 months.
We asked the girls what’s their favorite part about being apart of the state team and senior Elena Warner said “We work as a team, we are willing to sacrifice things for the common goal of the team”. That is so powerful through our research we found that the swim team is huge on working together and putting others first and that is a big factor when it comes to building a community in the athletic field. Congrats to the Tahoma girls Swim and Dive state team you all did amazing!
