Running, an activity so many of us participate in. Running is such a healthy activity that we can do it daily. It improves our bodies and mindset.
Whether you participate in track, cross country, soccer, football or basically any other sport that involves running, have you ever thought……… What are the benefits to running? Running can benefit you in so many ways. It’s a part of so many of our lives through sports, hobbies etc. Some of the ways it helps your everyday life are that it helps strengthen your muscles and improves your cardiovascular fitness.
Cooper Boyle, an athlete on Tahoma xc says that, “One of the biggest ways I’ve seen running change me, is it makes my overall mood better, it gets me outside in fresh air, it shaped me as a person in so many ways and I get to run with my buddies.” This not only shows that running benefits you physically, but also mentality. By getting outside, you are getting mental rest and rejuvenation that is great for your mind and body. Also, human connection improves your overall well-being. It allows you to connect and possibly make better relationships with your peers and teammates. Many on the cross-country team and track team at Tahoma have created a sense of belonging for everyone that participates. It allows for more friendships and better bonds through something you both enjoy.
One of the Tahoma athletes on jv says that, “One of the biggest reasons I got into running was because, when I started, it made me so happy.” She goes on to say, “I’m not the fastest runner, but it keeps me in shape and makes my mood better each day. She is an example that you don’t have to be the best at a sport to do it. The best time to start is now! She says that, “Running will always be a huge part of my life because of the feeling I have once I’m finished.” I love that mentality. Running makes you mentally strong and physically. It also makes you so happy. It allows you to feel like you have accomplished a lot, even if it’s just a short run or workout.
Even if you have never done a sport, or ever gotten into running, maybe consider doing it! It comes with so many benefits, connections and just the sense of overall well-being. Hopefully this article enticed you to get outside and move your body! Let me tell you this, you will not regret it and maybe will end up loving it!
