With the end of the school year quickly approaching, seniors can smell the graduation in the air and many of us couldn’t be more excited to reach that milestone and move on to our future plans, but before we do that, there are many things that we have to do to complete this school year.
Graduation is taking place on June 20, 2024 at the Kent Showare Center where students and their families gather to celebrate this momentous occasion. That same day, seniors have the option to do the elementary grad walk where the seniors go around to the Tahoma elementary schools that they attended and reminisce about the time they spent there.
Many of our Tahoma seniors have been in the Tahoma school district for their entire school career from kindergarten to high school so going back to the schools they went to will be a very emotional experience for them.
While graduation is on June 20th, seniors actual last day is June 13th where they will spend the day getting ready to leave. On the 13th, the seniors go to senior checkout where they will receive their cords for graduation, they will also do the senior parade which is where all the seniors go through the halls of Tahoma High School and see all of their teachers and friends in other grades before officially leaving.
While the 13th is the official last day for seniors, they will all need to come back on the 20th at 8:30 a.m. for the first graduation practice before going home to get ready for graduation that night. All seniors will have to arrive at the Showare Center at 5:30 p.m. for their second practice before families arrive at 7:30 p.m. for the actual graduation ceremony.
When discussing graduation with other seniors, many of them have said that they are nervous to move on past high school, but many of them are also very excited because they are ready to get out into the world.
Seniors have been preparing for graduation and for their futures for many months and we can only wish them luck on their future endeavors. As a Tahoma senior this year, I know that it has been stressful, but I know it will also be rewarding in the end.
