As everyone knows, it is important to stay hydrated. We need it to live, yet some people continue to not drink enough water. It’s important to drink your water, when you’re dehydrated only bad can come from it. The effects of not drinking water should be enough to make you want to drink more water.
Reportedly 75% of adults in the U.S. suffer from chronic dehydration, only drinking 2.5 cups of water a day on average compared to the recommended 8 cups of water a day. If you drink less than the recommended amount of water then you can be dehydrated which affects the way that you function throughout the day. It can become a health concern at some point too, your body needs water to function just like it needs food so not drinking enough water can ultimately hurt your body.
Being hydrated comes with a lot of benefits, simply for just drinking water. Being properly hydrated can help with weight loss, brain function, headaches, digestion, energy, and much more. If you give your body the amount of water it needs it will return the favor, the more hydrated you are the better your body will feel.
A lot of people in school don’t drink enough water which can affect their learning and work productivity, Kate Davis said “I do feel dehydrated sometimes but that is why I try to keep my water bottle with me.” For these reasons alone it should be a priority to stay hydrated throughout the day, even more when you are like Eli Brennan and have a P.E. class where you can get exhausted.
Eli says “ I always drink the water fountain water when I start to feel tired or dehydrated.” A way you can tell is from your pee, if your pee is dark yellow and a little smelly that can mean your body is severely dehydrated and you should probably drink a couple of glasses of water. If it is clear that means you’re hydrated this is because your body is full of water. Overall it is better to be hydrated than dehydrated, your body will thank you after drinking the water it needs.
