N.F.L rookie mini camps just ended two days ago and I wanted to discuss the rookies, primarily the first three offensive and defensive players taken off the board.
These players being the number 1 pick Caleb Williams, the number 2 pick Jayden Daniels and the number three pick Drake Maye. All of them being Quarterbacks with two of them being Heisman Trophy winners, those two being Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams.
On the defensive side at pick 15 you have edge rusher Laiatu Latu. After him at pick 16 you have defensive tackle Byron Murphy the 2nd and last but definitely not least at pick 17 we have another edge rusher Dallas Turner.
First things first, Caleb Williams drafted by the Bears at number 1 when I discussed his performance and possible impact, it was a consensus idea that he is going to be great at his position. When I was watching his tape for the camp, it was really solid. He didn’t have a lot of mistakes but is still a very well rounded player and very N.F.L ready.
At number 2, Jayden Daniels went to the commanders and in the tape he looks good. There was a lot of talk on how he may be a bust but he looks pretty good. Again, he’s not playing against veterans but against rookies. With Boden Smith saying “ I don’t know if he can be the guy we all think he’ll be right out the gate but he’ll still be good just give him some time.” Which I completely agree with.
With the 3rd pick, the patriots selected Drake Maye who i personally had over Jayden Daniels. But that’s a different topic for a different day yet Drake Maye does look better on the camp film with him being able to mesh really well with the offense and the other rookies. With Boden smith saying “the way Drake Maye plays looks great for how the modern N.F.L Qbs play and i think he can take the patriots to the next level”.
Now onto the defense the first defensive player taken off the board, Laiatu Latu. Now, there’s a lot of questions around Latu and not a lot of camp film from what I could find in my research. But, I think he will be a beast on the Gridiron.
Now, the second defensive player is my personal favorite drafted by our Seattle Seahawks.
Byron Murphy, the 2nd. Now, even though he’s undersized, he is a beast forcing opposing offenses to bend to his presence on the field. His tape is great and even the coaches like him and I think he can win defensive rookie of the year.
And now, Dallas Turner drafted by the Vikings at 17. He is the most athletic player in the draft by far and that mix of athleticism and technique show in the camp where he looks great and will be a great addition to the Vikings defense.
And that’s all for this week and all of my opinions on these great players.
