Damar Hamlin’s Accident

The famous football player Damar Hamlin who plays for the Buffalo Bills was recently in an accident causing him to collapse because of cardiac arrest, which was determined by Dr. William A. Knight on a video news conference on Monday.

Knight stated “He is doing well and this is the beginning of the next stage of his recovery”. It’s been said that Hamlin was given CPR on the field and when he was transported to the hospital he had to have a tube down his throat because he wasn’t able to breath on his own. As well as getting CPR he had to also get his heart revived on the field and after was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

As Hamlin was being transported and revived on his way to the hospital, the sports announcers and everyone on the field were debating on having the game be resumed and after an hour of debating it was announced that the game would be postponed.

After about a few days in the hospital with a tube in Hamlin’s throat, he was able to somewhat speak on his own. From what others and his family have said, when Hamlin woke up he was given a piece of paper and a pen and wrote out a sentence saying, “Did we win?” which was then spread all across the internet and was very amusing to all of his fans and supporters.

When Hamlin woke up a few days later, Monday he posted a tweet saying, “Grateful for the awesome care I received at UCMC. Happy to be back in Buffalo. The docs and nurses at Buffalo have already made me feel at home?” Hamlin also posted another tweet thanking all of his fans for their support through the whole incident, and after monday it was also added that Hamlin will also be transferred to another hospital which has very capable and excellent care in New York which is said to be the next phase of his recovery. There will be constant check-ins on the athlete and Hamlins medical team will be there to observe and monitor him to make sure that he is still stable and doing good.

Damar Hamlin is a very respected player of the Buffalo Bills and is someone that his family, friends, and his supporters, so no one wants to see him get hurt and especially see him fall straight to the floor while also being carried away in an ambulance across the field!  Even though the Bills have announced that Damar is breathing on his own now, we still wish the best recovery for him and send prayers to him and his family!
